Frizzy hair? Coconut oil. Shaving cream? Coconut oil. Dry skin? Coconut oil. Boyfriend Acting up? Coconut oil.
It’s no secret that I swear by coconut oil and all its many uses. This fleshy white, tropical fruit has so many benefits that you wouldn’t notice by looking at its shelled, furry exterior.
I use coconut oil for almost everything. I cook with it, I use it on my skin and I eat it too! Nourishing your body from the Outside- In! Talk about versatility.
Here are my top 5 uses for Coconut oil and how I keep that “Coco-glow” all year long.
1. Hair mask
As mentioned in the Haircare on the go article, Apply to your hair before bed and leave in overnight. Be sure to sleep on a towel so that you don’t leave any oil traces on your linen. Wash it out thoroughly the next morning.
2. Cooking oil
I cook everything in coconut oil. I find that it gives my eggs a vanilla taste and adds a fresher flavor to my home-cooked meals. It’s a better option than using olive oil- When Olive oil is heated its health benefits degrade to the level of other basic cooking oils providing you with no nutritious benefits whatsoever.
3. Face and body illuminating cleanser
There are mixed reviews about this online. I believe you need to try things for yourself and come up with your conclusions. Experts have confirmed that Coconut oil is an antibacterial, anti-yeast and great first-aid cream. Be sure to wash the oil away properly as leaving it on your skin could lead to blocking your pores. Make sure to use purified, cold-pressed coconut oil in liquid form. Youll find that coconut oil takes away your make up and is a great face cleanser.
4. Tanning oil enhancer
I’ll always opt for the natural product instead of chemical store-bought products and that’s why I love using Coconut oil as a tanning oil replacement. It enhances your tan and moisturizes your skin at the same time. Leaving your skin feeling softer after sun exposure. The best thing about this is that it has no harmful chemicals. Au Natural baby.
5. Teeth/Mouth cleanser
Some refer to this as oil pulling. The act of swishing coconut oil around your mouth which eliminates bacteria and promotes healthy gums. Additionally, Using coconut oil as a mouthwash helps whiten your teeth, aids in throat dryness and moisturizes your dry lips.
Is there anything coconut oil can’t do?
